Linda and I went out to Orange County
for a computer conference. We drove up to Hollywood to see if it was
anything like the Hollywood that we lived in when we first got married (1972).
The first place we visited was "Serrano Towers" - that's me pointing at the
balcony. That was the third place we lived in and the whole neighborhood
had changed. We then went to see if our favorite restaurant was still
there - El Coyote. Not only was it there, but it served the same dishes.
We dug into our perennial favorite - Tostada Salad. Finally, we went
to our first apartment in West Hollywood, on Norton Street. Those are the
photos on the right. Not only was it unchanged, but when you walked up to
the bungalow door, the whole place had the same smell that it had thirty years
ago - the birds of paradise plus the blue spruces made it feel like time had
never passed. Amazing....
